Garnishes

Instructions

Preparation

  • Line a springform cake tin with parchment paper and place a nori sheet on the bottom.
  • Add half of the cooked sushi rice into the tin, pressing it down gently to form an even layer.
  • Arrange half of the sliced avocado, cucumber, and fish on top of the rice.
  • Repeat the layering process with the remaining sushi rice, avocado, cucumber, and fish.
  • Finish with the last layer of sushi rice, packing it down gently but firmly.

Chilling

  • Cover the cake tightly and refrigerate for 2 hours to allow it to set.

Serving

  • Carefully remove the cake from the tin and sprinkle sesame seeds and additional nori strips on top.
  • Serve with small bowls of soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.

Notes

Using high-quality fish and avocados enhances the flavor. Properly cooked sushi rice should be slightly sticky to hold the layers together. Consider garnishing with microgreens or edible flowers for special occasions.
