Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef The heart of this satisfying meal.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped For a touch of sweetness and depth.
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce Adds a refreshing crunch.
  • 4 pieces sesame seed hamburger buns The perfect vessel for our filling.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Melt it for that gooey texture.

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup ketchup Provides classic sweetness.
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard For a zesty kick.
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise Creates a creamy texture.
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar Adds brightness.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Balances acidity.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Infuses the filling with aroma.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Enhances onion flavor.
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped dill pickles Adds an exciting flavor twist.
  • Salt and pepper to taste salt and pepper Essential seasonings.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, add the ground beef along with the chopped onion. Cook over medium heat, breaking up the meat as it cooks to ensure even browning. Drain off any excess fat.
  • In a mixing bowl, stir together the ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, white vinegar, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until fully combined.

Cooking

  • Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet with the browned beef. Stir in the finely chopped pickles and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • If desired, toast the hamburger buns under the broiler or in a toaster until lightly golden.

Assembly

  • Spoon a generous portion of the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with shredded lettuce, melted cheese, and additional pickles. Cap with the top bun and serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a dash of hot sauce. If cheddar isn’t your favorite, American cheese melts beautifully. Alternatives include whole wheat buns or lettuce wraps for low-carb versions.
