Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream This creamy base gives the dish its luscious texture and rich flavor.
  • 2 bunches asparagus Fresh, vibrant asparagus brings a burst of color and nutrients.
  • to taste salt and pepper Essential seasonings that elevate the dish's overall flavor.

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds a salty, nutty flavor that complements the Monterey Jack.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This temperature is ideal for achieving crispy cheese and perfectly tender asparagus.
  • Pour one cup of heavy whipping cream into the bottom of a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Arrange two bunches of fresh asparagus evenly in the dish over the cream.
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper generously over the asparagus.
  • Liberally sprinkle the shredded Monterey Jack cheese and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Slide the dish into the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden, and the asparagus is tender yet crisp.

Notes

You can prepare the dish a few hours in advance; just add the cheese before baking. Feel free to substitute the cheeses; Cheddar or Gouda could add a fun twist. To lighten the dish, use half-and-half or a lower-fat cream alternative.
