Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cut the top off the bread loaf and gently hollow out the center, leaving about 1/2 inch of bread on the sides.

Cooking

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the onion powder, oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), and marinara sauce. Mix well until combined and heated through.

Assembly

  • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and garlic powder. Brush the inside of the hollowed-out bread with this mixture.
  • Layer half of the mozzarella cheese inside, followed by the meat sauce mixture, and then scatter the mini pepperoni slices over the top.
  • Finish by adding the remaining mozzarella and cheddar cheese.

Baking

  • Sprinkle extra mozzarella on top and arrange some pepperoni slices. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Serving

  • Once ready, sprinkle with fresh parsley, slice into thick pieces, and serve with extra marinara for dipping.
