Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 450g
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced into 1⁄2-inch cubes
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese

Seasonings

  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by heating the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the diced potatoes to the skillet and sauté them for about 10–12 minutes until golden and fork-tender.
  • Once the potatoes are done, remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook for 6–8 minutes until the beef is browned and the onions soften.
  • Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  • Stir in garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Combine the cooked potatoes back into the skillet and mix gently.
  • Cook for another 3-4 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  • Sprinkle the cheese over the top, cover with a lid, and reduce heat to low for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted.
  • Serve hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

Use fresh or dried herbs like thyme or rosemary for added flavor. You can also add bell peppers or mushrooms for more texture. For faster cooking, parboil the potatoes.
