Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by cutting each mozzarella string cheese stick in half, creating the perfect bite-sized treat. Lay them out on a tray or plate and place them in the freezer for at least 1 hour.
  • Gather your bowls for the breading process: one for flour, one for the whisked egg and milk mixture, and one for the seasoned breadcrumbs.

Coating

  • Dredge each frozen mozzarella stick in flour.
  • Dip it into the egg mixture, letting any excess drip off.
  • Coat it generously in seasoned breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure adherence. For an even crunchier finish, double-dip by repeating the egg and breadcrumb coating.

Frying

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully place the mozzarella sticks in batches into the hot oil and fry for 1–2 minutes until golden-brown.
  • Remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Marinara Sauce

  • In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  • Stir in canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for about 10 minutes.

Prepare the Creamy Dip

  • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, garlic powder, and dried parsley. Whisk until smooth.

Serving

  • Arrange the crispy mozzarella sticks on a platter and serve alongside warm marinara sauce and creamy dip.

Notes

Allow ample time to freeze the sticks. Fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature for better crunch, and don't skip the double coating for superior crispiness.
