Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients

For Serving

Instructions

Preparation

  • Rinse the fish fillet under cold water and pat it dry. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  • In a medium bowl, combine light soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, and sesame oil (or olive oil). Stir until blended.

Steaming

  • In a large pot, bring an inch of water to a gentle simmer. Set a steamer basket inside the pot, ensuring it doesn’t touch the water.
  • Place the seasoned fish fillet on a heatproof plate. Slide the slices of ginger under the fillet, and pour the sauce over the top.
  • Carefully place the plate in the steamer. Cover with a lid and steam for 8-10 minutes, until the fish flakes easily.

Serving

  • Top the fish with sliced red chilies and garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve with lime wedges.

Notes

Choose fresh, sustainable seafood and ensure the steaming water is simmering for optimal cooking. You can experiment with adding garlic or other vegetables to the steamer for added flavor.
