Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Mix the softened butter with minced garlic to create a fragrant spread.
  • Generously smear the garlic butter over one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place the bread on a baking sheet and toast it lightly in the oven for about 5 minutes or until crisp and lightly golden.

Cooking the Mushrooms

  • Heat a pan over medium heat and add the tablespoon of butter along with olive oil.
  • Once melted, add the sliced mushrooms, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the mushrooms turn tender.
  • For deeper flavor, drizzle in the balsamic vinegar.

Assembling the Toasts

  • Remove the crispy toasts from the oven and spoon the prepared sautéed mushrooms over each slice.
  • Sprinkle the mozzarella and Gruyère or Parmesan cheese over the mushrooms.

Final Toasting

  • Place the topped toasts back in the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden brown.
