Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by heating a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground Italian sausage or beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spatula. Cook until beautifully browned, about 7-10 minutes.
  • Once the meat is browned, drain any excess grease. Add in garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to evenly coat the meat with the spices.
  • Spoon the seasoned meat into small oven-safe bowls, creating an even layer at the bottom.
  • Pour about 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce over each portion of meat.
  • Generously sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the sauce.
  • Carefully arrange the sliced bell peppers on top of the cheese.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the bowls for about 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and turning golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs or a sprinkle of chili flakes if desired.

Notes

Consider adding crushed red pepper or chopped herbs for extra flavor. You can also incorporate more vegetables like mushrooms or zucchini. Mix cheese types based on availability.
