Ingredients

For the flatbread

  • 1 piece store-bought flatbread or pizza dough
  • 2 tbsp olive oil divided for brushing and dressing the arugula

Toppings

  • 1 piece ripe but firm pear, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
  • 2 cups arugula to be dressed
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze for drizzling

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Place the flatbread on a baking sheet and brush it with 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  • Layer the thinly sliced pear evenly over the flatbread.
  • Scatter the crumbled Gorgonzola and chopped walnuts on top.

Baking

  • Bake in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust turns golden and the cheese melts.

Dressing and Serving

  • While the flatbread bakes, toss the arugula with the remaining olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  • After baking, top the flatbread with the dressed arugula and drizzle with balsamic glaze.
  • Slice up your flatbread and enjoy it warm.

Notes

To enhance flavors, drizzle honey over the baked flatbread or add fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme. For crispy crust, use a preheated baking sheet or pizza stone. Experiment with different cheeses or toppings for personalization.
