  • 2 cups fresh pineapple chunks Sweet and juicy, forms the base of your sauce.
  • 3–4 pieces orange habanero peppers Bring the heat!
  • 1/2 cup white onion, chopped Adds depth to the sauce.
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed Adds aromatic notes.
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar Enhances preservation and adds tartness.
  • 2 tbsp lime juice, freshly squeezed Balances sweetness.
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup Natural sweetener.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric Adds a warm tone.
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (optional) For a hint of smokiness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a pan over medium heat, lightly sauté the pineapple, onion, garlic, and habaneros for about 4–5 minutes until softened.

Blending

  • Transfer everything from the pan into a blender. Add apple cider vinegar, lime juice, honey, turmeric, salt, and smoked paprika if using. Blend until very smooth.

Cooking

  • Pour the mixture into a saucepan and let it simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cooling and Storing

  • Once simmered and thickened, let it cool. Pour into sterilized bottles or jars and refrigerate for up to one month.

Serving

  • Drizzle over tacos, grilled chicken, seafood, or roasted veggies.

Notes

For a milder sauce, use fewer habaneros. Replace some pineapple with mango or peach for a fruity twist. Grilling the ingredients can add complexity to the flavor.
