Instructions

Prepare the Pastry Ring

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the thawed puff pastry, cut the pastry into wide strips, and arrange these strips into a circular ring shape on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Press the ends of the strips together firmly to seal. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg and sprinkle with smoked paprika. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.

Make the Avocado Spread

  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe avocados. Add in lime juice, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until it reaches a smooth, creamy consistency.

Cook the Shrimp

  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, followed by smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until opaque. Remove from the heat and let them rest.

Assemble the Puff Pastry Shrimp Crown

  • Spread the avocado mix over the cooled pastry crown and arrange the cooked shrimp on top. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and red pepper flakes if desired.

Notes

Keep the puff pastry chilled for the best results. Use a sharp knife when cutting the pastry, and avoid overcooking the shrimp.
