Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  • In another bowl, mix together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, purple food coloring, vanilla extract, and white vinegar.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth. Fold in the cooled brewed coffee.

Baking the Cake

  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Making the Frosting
