Ingredients

Instructions

Prepare the Filling

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the diced strawberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and lemon juice.
  • Stir continuously for about five minutes until thickened and strawberries soften.
  • Remove from heat and let the filling cool completely.

Assemble the Hand Pies

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface and cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
  • Place a small spoonful of cooled strawberry filling in the center of half the heart shapes.
  • Top with another heart-shaped dough piece and seal edges with a fork.
  • Whisk together the egg and water in a small bowl and brush over the pies.

Bake & Glaze

  • Bake the assembled hand pies for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow the pies to cool for 10 minutes before whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze.
  • Drizzle or brush the glaze over the cooled pies.
