Meatloaf Base

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, diced onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, egg, milk, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and dried thyme. Mix gently until just combined and shape into a loaf.
  • Place the meatloaf in a greased baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
  • While the meatloaf is baking, melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown.
  • Stir in minced garlic, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce and simmer until slightly thickened.
  • After 45 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven and lay Swiss cheese slices on top.
  • Spoon the mushroom mixture over the cheese and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes.

Serving

  • Garnish with fresh parsley, slice, and serve.

Notes

Combine ingredients without overmixing for a tender texture. Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing to allow juices to redistribute.
