Cheese Base

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (355°F).
  • Remove any plastic from the Camembert and place it back into its original wooden box, or in a small ovenproof dish.
  • Score the top rind in a crosshatch pattern to allow the heat to penetrate.
  • Drizzle the scored cheese with olive oil and 1 tablespoon of hot honey.
  • Sprinkle fresh thyme and freshly cracked black pepper generously over the top.

Baking

  • Bake uncovered for 15–18 minutes until gooey and bubbling in the center.
  • Remove the dish from the oven and top with remaining hot honey and toasted pistachios.

Serving

  • Serve immediately with toasted baguette, crackers, or grissini, and optional apple or pear slices.

Ensure cheese is at room temperature before baking, opt for high-quality Camembert, and monitor baking time closely to avoid overcooking.
